Knock Knock…Who’s There? It’s Still Jesus.

January 7, 2015 | Comments Off on Knock Knock…Who’s There? It’s Still Jesus.

Into your capable hands, do we commit our thoughts, actions and deeds to you today O Lord. We accept your plans for our lives and will give attention to only your voice.  Help us remain focused on Christ today as our enemy tries to distract us with his lies that causes fear and doubt to creep into our thoughts. Help us Heavenly Father to allow your light and presence to envelop us and fill us so that very little of us can be seen.  Let us take on your character and image as we go about our day. May we bring you glory in all that we say and do.  For we ask this in Jesus name, Amen

“Knock, knock, knock…may I please come in?” – Jesus

Revelation 3:20-22 NASB 20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me. 21 He who overcomes, I will grant to him to sit down with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne. 22 He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’”

Do you still hear Jesus knocking at your door?  For most Christians, we say, “yes, and I have already opened the door and invited Christ in”.  And for the most part, we would be right.  Except, go back and reread the question.  That’s right.  That one little word that changes things. Do you see it?  Yes…the word “STILL”.

The reason I bring this up today, is to offer to you the opportunity to take a closer evaluation of just what door did you open to Jesus.  At least for me, I have found that while I opened the initial door for Christ to enter into my life, there have been too many doors in my life that had/has remained shut to Him.  Doors to those deep, secret places of my heart/life that I either don’t want to think about or I’m not just ready for Jesus to go in and start messing around in those rooms of my heart/life.  Do you have any of those places or is it just me?  I’ll share a few of those places that the Spirit and Word of God has uncovered to me that may spark your thoughts for yourself.

How about those doors to:

Relationships

Financial Security

Career Ambitions

Material Wants and Desires

Doing What I Want to Do

Forgiving Others

Judging Others

Serving God and Others

Fear

Sharing The Gospel

Loving Others, including those enemies

Secret Idols (yes, we have them)

I could keep going but hopefully you get the picture.

I feel that a lot of our frustrations and struggles as Christians, is the failure to recognize that there is so much in our lives that Christ wants and needs to clean up. And if we don’t understand the need for Jesus to have full and complete access to our entire heart/life, we will turn a deaf ear to His knocking on the doors of those areas in our lives, that we desperately need Him to enter in.

When we sing the song or say, “I Surrender All”, it must be exactly that…All!  All those secret thoughts, desires, dreams, lusts, and baggage we continue to hold so tightly to.

In order for us to be free in Christ and live abundantly in this new year and beyond, we need Christ in every area of our heart and lives.  It would be nice if it was just a one-time thing.  But I have learned that it is a process…God’s process of tests, trials, storms and circumstances, that reveal these hidden or forgotten doors that remain shut to Christ.

Listen for His knocking and let Jesus in.

God bless you.
